Fancy Eats!

Modern Fusion Cuisine

A small mound of green, purple and brown
drizzled with a zig zag of red sauce
arrives on a vast plate:

It has the look of food scraps
destined for the disposal
given a reprieve.

I chat amiably
in a room too dark
to see or be seen,

nibbling lotus root,
edamame beans, the purple gel
and vaguely named pork cheeks,

then give the waiter
my credit card
and pray.
