Another Swim

I swim toward light
from black depth of sea,
rising in patient increments,
observing the inhabitants
of this realm:  solitary silver flash,
groups — vibrant blue — turning as one body,
translucent bell shape
pulsing in liquid motion, dangling a train
of irridescent threads.
Sometimes I see only endless plankton
dusting the dark.

My bubbling breath ascends,
bursting the surface
as I shall, gasping,
breathing in the natural air,
bathed in the high sun,
remembering my journey
with awe.
