Wishing the Wild

We walked through
Kennedy Woods,
the one corner left
in St. Louis’ Forest Park
remaining wild and forested.

Holding hands I looked
into her hazel-brown eyes,
noted her flowing black hair,
the sultry curves
in all the right places
and wished
we were hiking
the Appalachian Trail.

  1. Hi Matt,

The only euphemism I’ve been able to find about the Appalachian Trail referred to a sleazy politician and his mistress – and I simply can’t picture you like that, so I’m glad you were only in the woods!
