Me in Hell

The Read Write Poem NaPoWriMo prompt for today is to depict someone doing something completely incongruous to their normal actions.

Mid-Life

I’ve quit
poetry.
I’m now
a romance novel
model
with Fabio hair.

My washboard abs
and stunning pecs
arouse jealousy
in men, and desire
in women
and some
other men.

I don’t read
the news,
because I am
the news.

Rhyme and meter
are replaced by
volume and body,
each
its own kind
of art.

  1. I really like “I don’t read / the news, / because I am / the news” and “Rhyme and meter / are replaced by / volume and body, / each / its own kind / of art.” – a perfect ending.
