An April Lover
I was wintering between words,
saving myself for spring,
but the ice blue sky
and empty trees
begged a remembrance
and I complied.
I was wintering between words,
saving myself for spring,
but the ice blue sky
and empty trees
begged a remembrance
and I complied.
PERFECT!
Lovely.
Wow! Simple, expressive, and beautiful….well done!
..I was wintering between words,
saving myself for spring…
LOVED these two lines – they say SO MUCH!!
saving myself for the spring…
breathtaking…
Nature-centric, theme-tight. Good work.
I echo Steve’s comment. So much said in so few. Well done. Gay @beachanny

I thoroughly enjoyed this. Nice one shot. Love and Light, Sender
Wow. “wintering between words” what a phrase to begin with… Excellent Poem, a smooth simplicity on the surface.
We must love Fall after reading this and the rest of the seasons…
“I was wintering between words,” — I can so relate to this! Love the brevity and complexity of this poem. I will be revisiting your blog here and soaking up more.
Very nicely put. I like the “begged a remembrance” as a way of indicating how they moved you. Cool!
Beautiful, simple, elegant
Simply beautiful.
Oh beautiful and what a relationship you have with words. 🙂
Love this Matt!….Simply beautiful! 🙂
Breezy, flirty, fun. I really enjoyed it.
Wintering between words – lovely… and I loved the poet’s response to the ice blue sky and empty trees begging remembrance. Something like that happened to me last winter. Thank you.
Beautiful. This is such a lovely poem looking towards spring and remembrance.

Awesome, really awesome.
Love the use of seasons here, especially “wintering.” Genius! =3
Wonderfully written 🙂 “wintering between words” ~ the space between that sentence has a great feeling to it, pausing between seasons…. ~April 🙂
I also like the part “wintering between words.” I think every writer has been there. And the letting go too. The compliance, sometimes against a certain stubbornness we’ve been holding on to.
amazing.. this came out just perfect.. loved it! 🙂
My One Shot Is Here
Amazing. I’ve just come out of a time of wintering between words myself, so this resonated with me. Just amazing.
You go girl! write when you are inspired. Time no bar!
Pretty sure “girl” doesn’t fit, but thanks for the rest.
