A Memory

Snapshot

At Age Six

Wandering
neighborhood
back yards
I met a pale,
blonde haired girl

who wore
a white headband
and flowered
play dress.

She stood
behind
endless
chain link.

We stared
through
galvanized
diamonds,
eye to eye,
for a wordless
moment

which lasts
to this day.

  1. Nice Blog. I arrived here through twitter and like what I see. I’ll be back to read more.
I wonder if ‘which has lasted’ mightn’t better convey the sense of persisting memeory you’re after. Just a thought. The effect here is simple, poignant and really lovely. I particularly like the juxtaposition of the child’s headband and dress and the galvanised diamonds. As the title suggests, the reader can see this perfectly.
