A Bachelor’s Clothes Hamper
.
The white wicker
lined with white cloth
says: cradle. It snuggles
shirts and pants,
socks and underwear
in the brew of themselves,
lidding down the aroma,
Yet the clothes crawl
in and out on their own,
get a breath of fresh air,
jog around the bed,
eventually get bored
and slip back
into the hamper
for another nap.
This continues
until there’s nothing left to wear
that hasn’t seen service
at least twice.
The hamper breathes
a sigh of relief
for a few hours
until the next bundles of joy.
A fun and lighthearted piece, Matt!
